Low Cost Construction Supply – Lowest prices on systems approved by the Nonprofit Florida House Institute for Sustainable Development.
Trained, Certified Local Contractors – Selected for their expertise in Eco-$mart system construction, remodeling and maintenance.
Coordination of Efficiency Promotional Programs – Including EPA Energy Star Homes and Buildings, creating positive public relations and media attention for participating contractors and building owners.
EPA Energy Star Ratings – State Certified energy ratings to verity efficient construction and to qualify buildings for energy efficient financing.
Energy Efficient Financing – Expanding debt to income ratios for both new construction and remodeling provide more buying power, and often lower rates and lower closing costs.
Educating the Public and Building Trades – Free Seminars for builders, developers, architects and the public.
Supporting Sustainable Development Education – A portion of all proceeds are donated to the Nonprofit Florida House Institute for Sustainable Development.

Nearly 200,000 new homes earned the ENERGY STAR in 2006, bringing the total number of ENERGY STAR qualified homes across the nation to almost 750,000. This translates to estimated annual savings of:
$180 million in utility bills
1.4 gigawatt-hours of electricity
100 million therms of natural gas
1.5 million metric tons of CO2
What Is Eco-$mart?
Eco-$mart, Inc. was founded in 1993, in Sarasota, Florida, inspired by the creation of the Florida House Learning Center, a green living demonstration project jointly developed by Sarasota County Cooperative Extension service and the nonprofit Florida House Institute for Sustainable Development (I4SD). Eco-$mart's mission is to bridge the gap between understanding and applying sustainable development principals.
